The first indoor sowing of the year is always a small milestone, even in the dead of January. I’m sowing onion in plug trays, three seeds to each plug, which means the harvest later on will be a rolling one as I thin them out gradually rather than all at once.
Alongside the onion I’m also getting aubergine and pepper started in a plug box. It’s early for both of them, but they’re slow enough to need the head start, tucked in under the basement to grow before there’s anywhere else for them to go.
