The slugs are everywhere this year, and they’re eating everything they can reach. It’s a fight that genuinely never seems to end, and it’s the one part of gardening that reliably makes me lose my patience.
Someone once told me slugs don’t climb metal and don’t like stone, so raised beds with metal sides and a bit of gravel around them would keep them out. Turns out that’s not true at all — they climb the metal sides just fine.
And they’re perfectly happy crossing gravel too, apparently unbothered by the sharp edges everyone assures you they hate.
