A little tradition here — once the holidays are over, the leftover gingerbread houses go out in the garden for the birds instead of in the bin. No snow this year, which usually means the birds find them fast.

Not this time, though. A hare beat them to it, and cleaned up both houses within a day.

I’ll take it as a win either way — nothing wasted, and a good excuse to stand at the window with my coffee, watching.
