Mid-December and the first seeds of the year go in: Chilli. I haven’t grown much chilli the last few years, but a fellow grower’s guide last season talked me into it, and she even sent me seeds — so there’s no excuse left.
I fill a plug box with planting soil on the bottom half and sowing soil on top, tuck the seeds in with just a whisper of soil over them, and put the lid on.
Box goes on the windowsill above a warm radiator, with extra grow light. Now the waiting starts.
