New this year: individual waste-sorting bins at every house here, rather than shared containers further away. First time using the new system, and I really like it — glass, metal, newspaper, and residual waste all sorted right at the source.
Food waste I still handle myself with bokashi composting, so this new system slots in neatly alongside what I was already doing. Between the two, very little actually leaves the property as unsorted trash.
Small infrastructure change, but it makes the daily habit of sorting properly so much easier — and I notice I’m more conscious of what I’m throwing away in the first place.
