Slow Days at the Cottage

Slow days at the cottage this time, but with a genuinely concrete project mixed in. After years of heating with nothing but the wood stove, it was finally time for something more — so we installed an air-source heat pump.

The wood stove still gets used and still does the job for atmosphere as much as heat, but now there’s a proper backup that doesn’t need constant feeding.

Between the fire going and the new heat pump humming quietly in the background, the place holds its warmth so much better than it used to — makes the slow days actually feel slow, instead of spent hauling firewood.
