Planting Densely in Raised Beds, and Letting the Slugs Have Plenty

I grow almost everything in raised beds, and I plant them more densely than you’re usually told to. It’s not really by the book, but it works well for me.

One side effect I only really appreciated this year: planting dense also turns out to be a decent way of managing the slugs. There’s simply enough for everyone — the slugs take their share, and there’s still plenty left over for me.

It’s not a strategy I’d have planned deliberately, but I’ll take an accidental upside where I find one.
