No mulch this year, so the weeds won

I didn’t get any covering material down this year, and it shows — by the time it was time to start planting out, the beds were full of weeds instead of bare soil.

No shortcut for it: just clearing it out by hand, bed by bed, before anything new goes in. A good reminder of exactly what the mulch is usually doing for me.
