Everything is frozen, but the kale is still going strong.
Kale is one of the few things in the garden that actually improves after a hard frost — the cold converts some of the starches to sugar, so what’s left standing in January tastes sweeter than it did in October. It’s one of the better arguments for not clearing everything away in autumn.
