The 20th of August and the whole family is out picking mushrooms together. Golden chanterelles are about as easy and safe as foraging gets, which makes them a good one to bring small hands along for — easy to spot, easy to identify, and hard to mix up with anything dangerous.
We picked a few hedgehog mushrooms too, once we’d gotten our eye in for what to look for under the trees.
