The first sowings of the year don’t happen until the first of March for us — tomatoes and aubergine, the two crops that need the longest head start before the beds are anywhere near ready.
They come up fast once they get going — this is what they look like after 14 days and again after 30. Early cabbage is getting the same treatment this year, sown straight into its own pot instead of a tray, just to keep the whole process simpler.
