The cabbage I started indoors under lights has finally reached the size where it can move out to the greenhouse. Straight from the trays into buckets, which gives the roots more room while it’s still too early for the ground itself.
Bucket by bucket, the greenhouse shelving is filling up fast this week — the whole thing feels like it goes from empty to crowded in the space of about ten days every spring.
I’m also testing something a bit riskier: an early tomato plant, out in the greenhouse well ahead of when I’d normally trust the temperatures. Worth trying — if it survives, it’s a real head start on the season.
By the end of the session, buckets and trays cover most of the greenhouse floor and shelving. It’ll thin out again once things get planted properly, but for now it’s satisfyingly full.
