For a few days the snow has melted away — fairly normal around here, a handful of snow-free days in January before another round arrives. I take the chance to get outside and see what actually needs fixing in the garden while I can see the ground.
It’s a good reminder that winter isn’t quite as static as it looks from indoors; there’s always something worth checking on.
